Marymass II: This island is called Ailsa Craig, taken from the Gaelic ailsse creag, meaning 'fairy rock'. As it is 1110 feet high it can be seen from all parts of the Ayrshire coast (Scotland). It is a volcanic plug made of granite which sits about 10 miles off the coast, roughly halfway between the mainland and Ireland, hence the colloquialism, "Paddy's Milestone". It is home to the third largest gannet colony in the world, with about 70,000 birds on average descending on the rock. This image was taken in the summer of 2007.
This image is available as a Satin Fine Art Print and a Canvas Wrap.
The framing options are shown under the print image.
All framed prints are supplied with an apertured overmount.
The edges of this canvas are wrapped white.
Canvas Prints are wrapped around top quality 36 mm deep stretcher bars made from European pine laminated wood to minimize warping. All canvases are varnished for added durability and fitted with hangers. The backs are taped to hide the staple fixings.
